Accessible Area & Facilities
The accessible area in O2 Academy 1 is located on stage right of the balcony, which is accessed by lift from the outside entrance marked Stalls. The area can accommodate up to approximately six wheelchair users with up to six companion seats but the capacity can vary according to the requirements of the customers attending.
The platform is behind two rows of seating and is raised to provide a clear view for all wheelchair patrons. O2 Academy Birmingham operate a no-standing policy in the seated balcony area, but the view from this platform can be obscured if customers seated directly in front of the platform choose to stand. Venue staff will enforce the no-standing policy vigilantly for the benefit of our wheelchair patrons, but the venue cannot accept responsibility for any problems caused by patrons standing in front of the platform due to circumstances beyond our control.
There is an accessible toilet in O2 Academy 1 that is accessed by radar key.
There is a lowered section to the bar that is accessible for wheelchair users. In the event of this bar being closed bar staff from an alternative bar will attend the disabled viewing area to take drinks orders throughout the night.
Merchandise is sold in the stalls area of O2 Academy 1, and all customers are permitted access to the stalls area after the show. The stalls area is accessible by lift from the balcony. Disabled access customers will need to notify security staff that they wish to purchase merchandise at the end of the show so they can be taken into the stalls area.
