The British Amateur Boxing Association (BABA) has announced that the GB Amateur Boxing Championships will be held at The Troxy in London on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th May.
The boxers that enter the tournament will have an opportunity to challenge those in the GB Boxing squad for a place on the Olympic programme. If a boxer that is not currently part of the GB Boxing squad wins the GB Championships they will secure an assessment with the squad and the opportunity to join it as a funded athlete.
Derek Mapp, Chairman of the BABA, which has representatives from the ABAs of Scotland, England and Wales on its Board, explained The GB Amateur Boxing Championships will act as a culmination of the all the domestic ABAs and give boxers an opportunity to compete for a place in the GB Boxing squad."
