Ska Legends announce outdoor concert at Northern Meeting Park

Inverness’ Northern Meeting Park will be transformed into the House of Fun when Madness arrives in the city next summer.

The band – one of the most successful British pop groups of all time – will headline a huge outdoor concert in Northern Meeting Park, Inverness on Friday 23rd August 2019.

Famous for unique, quirky pop classics including House of Fun; Driving in My Car; It Must Be Love; Our House; and Baggy Trousers, Madness will bring their love of pop to the North of Scotland.

Speaking about the upcoming concert, the band said:

“We’re excited to be heading back to Scotland to perform outdoors, this time in the Highlands. Our Scottish fans always give us such a warm welcome and we’ll offer them a great concert featuring a superb line-up of our hits, which we can all dance along to!”

The show is being organised by local concert promoter, LCC Live, and is the first concert to be announced for Northern Meeting Park next summer as part of ‘Live in the City’.

Made up of seven members – Chris Foreman, Mike Barson, Lee Thompson, Chas Smash, Suggs, Dan Woodgate and Mark Bedford – Madness achieved most of its success in the early to mid-1980s, spending 214 weeks in the UK singles chart over the course of the decade. It has had 15 top 10 singles and one UK number with House of Fun. The band’s most recent album, Can’t Touch Us Now, reached the Top 10 in the UK Album Charts.

The band has also received two Ivor Novello awards in their multi-decade spanning career. In 1983 the band picked up the Best Song Award for Our House and in 2000 they received a further accolade for their Outstanding Song Collection.

Ska Legends Madness Announce Outdoor Concert at Bitts Park, Carlisle in Summer 2019

Madness have just been announced as the headliners for a huge outdoor concert in Bitts Park, Carlisle. The show will take place on 9th June 2019 with doors at 3pm. Special guests are expected to be announced in the near future.

Madness are one of the best known Ska bands in the UK. They have released countless hits over the years including ‘Our House’, ‘It Must Be love’, ‘Baggy Trousers’, ‘Night Boat To Cairo’ and ‘House of Fun’.

The band have received two Ivor Novello awards in their multi decade spanning career. In 1983 the band first picked up the Best Song Award for ‘Our House’ and in 2000 they received a further accolade for their Outstanding Song Collection.

With eleven studio albums to their name, and seven of these reaching the Top 10 in the UK Album Charts (including their latest, ‘Can’t Touch Us Now’ from 2016), Madness have had an enduring influence on pop culture.

They are often regarded as a British institution and still continue to play shows to thousands of fans. The previous Glastonbury performers add Bitts Park to their list of upcoming 2019 shows. It is currently their only confirmed show up North taking place next year.
