The highlight was EVERYTHING start to finish Miss Pearsons Voice, Drummer Pearsons solo, Lonnies FUNK-ing keyboard, 2 guitar players AMAZING one and all

Went to see this Legend and his new young band at M/cr's famous Band On The Wall venue 29th Aug 2013.
MAN THAT CAT WAS GOOD !! Got to say I also take my hat off to his NEW band of youngsters, long after Lonnie is gone to heaven, these guys will be carrying his torch for many decades to come. Kudos to the drummer & the female vocal...oooh what a voice! Soulful, sassy and clear as a bell.
Bringing it back to Lonnie, his magic was spinkled everywhere, his genius evident in every note he played. He proved one thing to me, it is still possible to FUNK well into your 70's! The guy just gave me a 30 year extention to life. The band collective played everything from SMOOTH JAZZ to out and out JAZZ FUNK that rocked da house!
I am SO glad I bought a ticket., in truth all I really knew about his music was based upon music I heard in the 80's But now I feel I have been blessed by A God of Jazz Funk, a true artist, musician, performer and Legend.
No idea how long his UK tour will go on, but if you want to hear the best, do not let this once in a lifetime chance pass you by. Thanks Lonnie, live long, stay healthy and keep those FUNKING FINGERS doin the business, so pleased you came out of retirement to tour and give these NEW Cosmic Echo kids a chance to glow in your presence too. Excellent Show 100% recommended.

Thoughts on Manchester Band On The Wall:

My first time, shame on me, it won't be my last.
A relaxed friendly place socially, great space for bar, drinks & food. The stage area, you will see your artist close up & personal. The sound system is immaculate, you can hear every last note in perfect clarity.
I got an 'early bird' priced ticket which is a great idea and saved me a couple of quid on the night, I'd happily have donated to the clubs charitable status.
Always known the venue as my jazz singer mum performed there 40 odd years ago, & my drummer son performed his college review there this year. Such is the way Band on the Wall is integrated into our local community & why it is embedded into Manchester's history...It's Manchesters version of Liverpools ''Cavern Club'.. Only better.
