The Wanted and McFly will headline the first of a series of concerts on Blackpool’s brand new Tower Festival Headland on Sunday 24th June. The joint headliners are the first acts to be announced for the new music event, presented by promoters Cuffe & Taylor in association with Marketing Blackpool.
The Wanted and McFly are two of Britain’s biggest boybands, with certified gold and double platinum albums respectively. McFly have recently hit the headlines again after members Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd both won reality TV contests, I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and Strictly Come Dancing in 2011 respectively. Harry Judd will return to Blackpool after winning the shows final at Blackpool Tower Ballroom. The Wanted have been enjoying great chart success and have recently been touring in America. They embark on their first sold out UK Arena tour next month.
The Tower Festival Headland is situated opposite Blackpool’s famous tower and will house a spectacular open-air events space for up to 20,000 spectators. A new art installation entitled the ‘Comedy Carpet’ featuring comedy catchphrases etched in granite and concrete will provide a creative footpath stretching from the entrance of the tower onto the festival headland itself. A brand new Tourist Information Centre, cutting-edge wedding venue and beach café/restaurant will also be based here.
