SKELETON KEY RECORDS & NIGHT & DAY PRESENTS

THE PEACH FUZZ + CUT GLASS KINGS + MONKS

THE PEACH FUZZ

Liverpool five-piece, The Peach Fuzz, sprinkle forthcoming single, The Outside Looking In, with magic dust in three minutes of pure indie pop. Following their electrifying emergence last year, the band returns to Skeleton Key Records with a sunny spring single overflowing with intent, following a fruitful collaboration with in form producer, James Skelly.

Stabbing synths, locomotive drums, ebbing guitars, and layers of honeysweet vocals combine in a wall of instant-effect harmony, distilling the song to a rare degree of guitar pop purity. The Peach Fuzz’s versatility adds to the curiosity surrounding the gifted band, having provided little more than a paper trail of effusive live reviews prior to late 2018’s hazy, debut single, Destroy The Evidence.

With James Skelly and Chris Taylor on production duties, The Outside Looking In was recorded during energetic sessions at Liverpool's famous Parr Street Studios in January 2019 sessions, capturing the band’s skilled musicianship, innate creativity, and the thrill of their onstage persona. The result is a heady alchemy of indie pop that fizzes with welcome and timely optimism.

The Peach Fuzz completed 2018 touring in support of Clean Cut Kid. Spring 2019 will see the group embark on a UK-headline tour ahead of coveted summer festival appearances.

CUT GLASS KINGS

True artisans take their time over defining their distinct craft and the gradual birth of Cut Glass Kings as a simmering, British rock and roll success story proves the rule that the most beautiful flower takes the longest to bloom. The release of the latest single, Dream In The Dark, out now on Skeleton Key, and the announcement that it is drawn from the band’s long-awaited summer debut album, marks a significant chapter for the Midlands two-piece.

Striking two million streams at around the same time they completed their latest tour with mentoring ‘big brothers’, The Coral, the band is aglow after smashing their way through seven UK-wide dates. Four years of touring, hitching rides with the legendary Liverpool psych-alchemists as well as Peace and Night Beats, has seen them slowly find their audience just below radar.

Dentist drill guitar lines, loose and heavy Bonham-esque drums and a sense of relentless momentum makes Dream In The Dark a soundtrack for their life on the road, drawing the transience of sitting behind the wheel heading from hotel-to-hotel and stage-to-stage into their already oil-streaked sound.

The duo of just guitars and drums represent turned-up-to-ten, wall-stripping, smokey blues rock, drawing inevitable comparisons to The Black Keys and The White Stripes. Hailing from Stourbridge in the West Midlands, Paul Cross (guitar, keys & vocals) and Greg McMurray (drums & backing vocals) are their shared influences incarnate.

Their ten-track debut album, due for a summer release, combined sessions at Parr Street Studios, Liverpool in the company of producer, James Skelly and the non-replicable acoustics of the drummer’s kitchen.

MONKS

Making major waves on the Liverpool music scene is Monks.

The band fronted by singer-guitarist and chief song-writer, George Pomford, hail from various Merseyside outposts such as Sefton, Ellesmere Port and Wavertree.

Having met via mutual friends and through college, the remaining band members are Nathan Johnson(guitarist), Kali Diston-Jones (drums), Joe Fay (trumpet, synthesizers) and Liam Daly (bass guitar, sampler). Starting ou in 2017, Monks fuse various influences, such as psych rock, jazz, and dream-pop to create their own unique sound.

Joe Fay’s trumpeting (from an orchestral background), brings a distinct flavour to their sound; whilst Nathan Johnson’s guitar work, replete with reverb-infused riffs and Kali Diston-Jones complex drum fills all add perfectly to forge Monks’ sound. Pomford’s song-writing contains different time signatures, and samples sentences from old news interviews, bringing a creative twist to some of their songs.
