Standing above the petty industry politics is Shotty Horroh. Rather than conforming to any one category, Shotty (Government name Adam Rooney) has cut his own style to garner not just underground respect but trans-atlantic appeal too.
Possessing neck-snapping delivery, an acid tongue and a capability for emotional intensity not seen in years, this 22 year-old emcee is ready to take the industry by storm on both sides of the Atlantic.
Raised in the poverty-stricken Harpurhey part of Manchester, England, Shotty grew up with the same problems facing most urban youth.
What separated him from the pack though, was his ability to use his pain as a canvas to paint a vivid image that others could relate to. With his clever wordplay and rapid verbal execution, he is already building a loyal following in his hometown, and now has his eyes set on the national and international stage.
Fast forward to 2009, and Shotty has signed to Brute Force records and is gearing up to release his debut album. With collaborations with RSonist from the Heatmakerz, Alchemist, Squala Orphan, Grafh, Crooked I, Small World from DTP and others, the stage is set for an industry takeover.
