ROCK-A-BYE-BABY By Barry Brosnan When Amanda and Russells one night stand results in her getting pregnant, Russell makes it quite clear he isnt ready to be a father. Amanda then makes the rash decision to sell her unborn baby on the black market unbeknown to Russell. Jack and Lucy who run the illegal adoption agency buy and sell in babies, providing a service for people who cant naturally have a child and for whatever reason cannot adopt. They both add a performance element to their work by creating characters to get close to there clients, which they have had to do as part of this particular deal. Once Russell sees his child for the first time he has a radical change of mind, but the deal has already been done. Jack and Lucy have already sold the child to another couple/client. The midwife nurse in the hospital who was inadvertantly involved in the deal holds some secrets of her own and when Russell asks for her help to get his child back she sees no other way to right her wrongs than to help Russell. This dark, intense but strangely comic play holds twists and turns along the way for a couple looking for revenge.
