Mike Hadreas, also known as Perfume Genius is a singer/songwriter from Seattle, Washington, US.

Perfume Genius began when he moved from New York to his mother’s home in Everett, WA. In these relatively isolated conditions, Hadreas felt a compulsion to make music and began composing fragile yet brutally honest songs on the piano.

By 2008 he had set up a MySpace page and began offering his music there, along with similarly spare and evocative homemade music videos.

Turnstile released the single Mr. Peterson - the tale of a suicidal, pedophile high-school teacher - in 2009.

Perfume Genius’ full-length debut, Learning, which presented its tracks in the order in which they were recorded, arrived and released on June 21, 2010.

In 2011, Hadreas supported the band Beirut on their North American tour.In September of the same year he played Split Works' inaugural Black Rabbit festival in China alongside acts like Gold Panda and Mount Kimbie.
Hadreas' second album, Put Your Back N 2 It, was released on February 20, 2012.The promotional video for the album, featuring Hadreas and pornographic actor Arpad Miklos embracing each other wearing only underwear, was deemed unsafe for family viewing by YouTube.

He was one of several Seattle-area artists and musicians featured in the exhibit "Mw [Moment Magnitude]" at the Frye Art Museum, October 13, 2012 — January 20, 2013. As part of the exhibit, he gave a performance at the museum October 27, 2012.

"Sister Song" was featured on Episode 13 and the season finale of Hemlock Grove in 2013.
