In September 2011, it was announced that Fafara, Cox and Rascón would reform the band with bass guitarist Chela Rhea Harper, to play the Soundwave shows in Australia.
Asked in October 2012 about the current status of Coal Chamber, Fafara stated that they are "taking it slow", partly due to his commitments with DevilDriver. He also stated that the band has begun writing new material.
On the 3rd of December it was announced that they would be performing at Download 2013.
As of 2013, the band has been announced to go on tour with Sevendust, Lacuna Coil and Stolen Babies.
On October 31, 2013 it was announced that Nadja Peulen had officially reunited with the band.
They will also be performing at Rock Am Ring 2013, Graspop Metal Meeting 2013 in Dessel and on Nova Rock festival 2013.
On August 12, 2014, Coal Chamber announced that they have signed to Napalm Records and are working on a new album to be released in 2015.
On December 10, 2014, Fafara announced the recording of the new album is complete. It will be the first Coal Chamber album in 13 years, and the first released by Napalm Records. It is expected to be available for purchase in the first quarter of 2015.
On February 12, 2015, Coal Chamber revealed that the new album would be called "Rivals", which will be released on May 19, 2015.
