ALED JONES SCORES TWO NO.1 CLASSICAL ALBUMS IN A YEAR
One Voice and One Voice at Christmas on the Classic FM label both reach top spot
One Voice at Christmas is out now
Aled Jones MBE has achieved the monumental feat of topping the Classical Album Chart not once, but twice this year with his Classic FM albums One Voice and One Voice at Christmas.
In April, Aled released his first duet album, One Voice, following the discovery of the last ever recordings of him as a boy. A unique concept, the album dominated the number one position in the Classical Chart for a staggering 14 weeks.
Now, with One Voice at Christmas, Classic FM presenter Aled has matched that feat, with the album going straight to the top of the Classical Album Chart in its first week of release – as well as having One Voice also in the top five.
One Voice at Christmas features Aled performing alongside his younger self once again, on a collection of his most popular classics, including worldwide smash Walking In The Air, which was rearranged for 2016 by Howard Blake – as well as traditional hymns such as O Holy Night and seasonal favourites including Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
On reaching the top spot twice in nine months, Aled said: “What a year! Revisiting my youth has been such an experience and an enormous pleasure. I am so happy with how both albums have turned out. Singing with my younger self has been a dream come true. We made history with the first album back in April and now with One Voice At Christmas being number one in the chart, we've done it again! Thanks to everyone, especially the Classic FM team, for their support. Have a very Happy Christmas!”
Aled Jones has had an extraordinary career over the past three decades. He has sung for the Pope, Her Majesty The Queen and numerous members of the Royal Family. He has released more than 30 albums generating 8 million albums sales and counting. He has performed across the world from the Hollywood Bowl to The Vatican and from Buckingham Palace to the Sydney Opera House, via the Suntory Hall in Tokyo. Never staying in his comfort zone, he has performed in English, Welsh and Japanese.
Millions know him for his radio and TV presenting work which includes his Sunday breakfast show on Classic FM and his own flagship ITV show, Weekend. However, it is his music and his voice which has ingrained him in the fabric of music since the 1980s. His charity work has also led to Aled to release two singles with Sir Terry Wogan in aid of Children In Need.
