Hardwick Festival - Line-up announcement
Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Travis & Rag'n'Bone Man head to County Durham this Summer!
One of the region's biggest outdoor music festivals has confirmed its return this summer bringing with it two full days of first-class live entertainment to the North East.
Organisers of Hardwick Festival, set in the grounds of the iconic Hardwick Hall Hotel in Sedgefield – will this year play host to Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Scottish indie stars Travis, The Smiths legendary guitarist Johnny Marr and the Baritone majesty of British singer-songwriter Rag'n'Bone Man, in what is being billed as the event's most ambitious line-up to date.
Taking place on Saturday 22nd August and Sunday 23rd August 2020, Hardwick Festival will also welcome indie gods The Charlatans, X Factor finalist Rebecca Ferguson, The “Elvis” fronted Nirvana tribute sensation Elvana and Twisted Wheel to the bill, fresh from the band's sell-out support tour of ex-Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.
Among music legends, New Yorker Nile Rodgers is truly exceptional. He amplifies his legacy as a multiple GRAMMY-winning composer, producer, arranger and guitarist by constantly traversing new musical terrain and successfully expanding the boundaries of popular music. As the co-founder of CHIC and the newly elected Chairman of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Rodgers pioneered a musical language that generated chart-topping hits like "Le Freak," (the biggest selling single in the history of Atlantic Records) and sparked the advent of hip-hop with "Good Times". Nile Rodgers transcends all styles of music across every generation with a body of work that's garnered him inductions into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (2017) and the Songwriters Hall of Fame (2016).
His work in the CHIC Organization and his productions for artists like David Bowie, Diana Ross, and Madonna have sold over 500 million albums and 75 million singles worldwide while his innovative, trendsetting collaborations with Daft Punk, Avicii, Sigala, Disclosure, and Sam Smith reflect the vanguard of contemporary music. Nile Rodgers & CHIC recently released their first new studio album, "It's About Time" in over 26 years to critical acclaim and a Top 10 position in the UK album charts.
Hardwick Festival is also delighted to welcome Sunday night headliners & two time ‘best band’ BRIT Award winners, Travis. The Scottish Indie-Rock band have a rich touring history, headline slots at some of the world’s biggest festivals including Glastonbury, Roskilde, Benicassim, T in the Park, as well as epic performances at Coachella, Summer Sonic Japan, Rock am Ring and Rock im Park Germany and countless sold out tours around the world.
Their most recent UK tour, which included a sold out show at Newcastle City Hall, saw Travis bring their classic, 9 times Platinum, album ‘The Man Who’ to the stage. One of the successful British albums of the last 20 years, produced by Nigel Godrich (known for his work with Radiohead), ‘The Man Who’ spent an astonishing 11 weeks at Number One in the UK charts & won the BRIT Award for Best Album. Their show will be sure to include songs from all 8 of their studio albums.
Travis have just released a new song ‘Kissing in the wind’, recorded as a track to accompany their critically acclaimed documentary ‘Almost Fashionable – A Film about Travis.
