About Islington Assembly Hall
Islington Assembly Hall is a stunning live music venue on Upper Street in Islington, north London. The grade II listed building's beautiful art deco interior and recently upgraded PA system and lights combine to offer a unique experience. Sam Smith, Katy B, London Grammar, Anna Calvi and Laura Mvula - to name just a few - have performed on its magnificent stage to sell-out crowds. The 1930s building reopened in 2010 after an extensive refurbishment, which saw many of the original features kept. Touches such as the back-of-seat, theatre-style ashtrays in the balcony give it a charm that you'll struggle to find at any other music venue of its size in London.
Capacity and tickets
This flexible space holds up to 800, including 600 standing and 200 seated in the balcony for a full-capacity show. Both areas are unreserved. If you have a ticket for the seated bacony, the view of the stage is great, wherever you sit. Please check details of specific concerts, as some will use the downstairs only and others may have seating throughout, reducing the capacity. Stage times also vary between shows, but doors normally open at 7pm and the venue curfew is 11pm. For the latest information, follow us on Twitter @Islington_AH. See below for free entry for personal assistants and carers.
Access information
Islington Assembly Hall is located on street level. There are two small steps just inside the main entrance with a side entrance stright onto the ground floor level. There are no pillars or fixed obstacles in the main hall. The balcony and basement can only be accessed by stairs during events, but at all concerts, there is an accessible area close to the stage and accessible toilet, reserved for wheelchair users and their personal assistants. The accesible toilet is on the ground floor and is fitted with an alarm cord. Customers who require assistance and who have bought a ticket for a concert here can request free entry for a personal assistant or carer by contacting the Islington Assembly Hall team directly on 020 7527 8900 or assemblyhall@islington.gov.uk. We will take your details and make arrangements with the box office and security staff so they know to expect you and grant your personal assistant free entry. To guarantee free entry for your personal assistant, you will need to bring along evidence that you require assistance, such as a letter from the Department of Work and Pensions or NHS to show the box office on arrival.
