The Lady In The Van

In the 1970s Alan Bennett met a batty old bag-lady. When she drove her yellow van into his drive he let her stay; for 15 years.  This funny play shows the highlights of those years, narrated by Bennett and his rather cynical alter ego. Neighbours , social workers, doctors, and villains and are all involved as the mystery of the “Lady’s” past unfolds.  A play of great wit, warmth and wheeled vehicles. And it’s  true!
