Stonehaven Folk Festival 6-9th July 2017
Now in its 29th year, the small harbour Town of Stonehaven comes alive with a fantastic range of traditional and contemporary music and song ranging from major concerts in the Town Hall, late night concerts, informal sessions in the bars and hotels to intimate workshops with festival artists teaching only a dozen people. There are also many free events including two afternoon concerts in the Market Square.
2017 guests include Jarlath Henderson, the Iona Fyfe Band, Fara, Archie Fisher, Mike McGoldrick and friends, Ross hull & Cameron Grant, Emily Smith & Jamie McClennan, the John McCusker Band plus many local and visiting artists.
Beside the music and song there is also a light hearted side to the Festival with the World Paper’n’Comb Championships, celebrating the humble traditional art of playing a tune with just a piece of papar (Izal or similar) and a plastic Comb and the famous Aqua Ceilidh held in the Town’s Open Air Art Deco pool.
Stonehaven is a picturesque harbour Town situated just 15 miles south of Aberdeen and is easily accessible by bus, rail and road.
