In playful mood at the Playhouse...

After seeing excellent shows in London and Gateshead, a quick trek up the East Coast to Scotland was called for to catch Sting at the Playhouse in Edinburgh. The set list was the same as at the Sage Gateshead (including 1985's We Work The Black Seam, which seems to have sadly been dropped now the UK shows have finished) but the performance was once again faultless and, quite simply, breathtaking. The current version of Roxanne is one of the best we've heard, and although it sounds like it shouldn't work, Next To You is a fine way to end the the first half of the show. Our preference is for the second half with it's mix of more obscure songs - End Of The Game, This Cowboy Song, My Ain True Love, Tomorrow We'll See - and the killer five song ending of King Of Pain, Every Breath You Take, Desert Rose, She's Too Good For Me and Fragile which had everyone on their feet. A final acapella I Was Brought To My Senses rounded off a fantastic evening.
