Dare to Know Theatre are a theatre company based in Oldham who specialise in community and working-class theatre. Last year they showcased a brand-new theatre production called ‘Smoke & Mirrors,’ written by Jake Talbot and directed by Miranda Parker. It is a play exploring classism and sexism within the art world.
The play was designed to be performed to be adaptable and performed as ‘site specific’ in art galleries. The piece debuted in Mill 1 Gallery at 1853 Studios in Dare to Create: Oldham Arts Festival, followed by an incredible performance in 53two in Manchester, which was in a more typical theatre environment, adapted to be “in the round.”
The team from Dare to Know Theatre are excited to bring this production to Manchester Art Gallery in the stunning setting of the Victorian Galleries on Wednesday 25th March 2026 - please note this event is taking place at one of the Night at the Gallery events when the gallery is open from 5pm to 9pm with various other events and activities taking place.
