    Seventy Years of Choral Singing

    Seventy Years of Choral Singing

In 1949 some far sighted Nelson councillors formed a choir because they wanted children to sing. The first conductor was Mr Pat Devine. Edward Parr then developed the Nelson Civic Choirs over the next 50 years. The Youth and Childrens'Choirs changed their name 20 years ago to incorporate Pendle as this had become the name of our Borough.

2019 sees the anniversary of 70 years of Pendle children singing and we mark this continuous singing achievement with several events and concerts. The first of which is at The Muni on March 17th. at 2.30 supported by three other local choirs. Amongst these choirs are a few people who as small children were on this first photograph of the original choir!!!!
