What is better than spending the Halloween night expecting a knock on one of the mysterious doors inside Hoghton Tower? As you ascend the long drive of reputedly the third most haunted house in Britain we will be waiting for you. A glass of mulled wine to take away the chill prepares you for what is to follow.
Silent torchbearers guide you on the ghost tour through the darkened halls of the Tower, where you will encounter spectres from the past who regale you with ghostly happenings from across the centuries. Venture, if you dare, through the underground passages where footsteps from another time may echo alongside your own. Do you see the black dog who haunts the Well House? Stare into the painting where mysterious faces may reveal themselves, before dining in warmth and comfort with an opportunity to reflect on what you have seen and heard.
But it doesn't end there. After your meal, you will be taken to the Banqueting Hall where you will be met by the Witch finder General who will tell you stories of the Lancaster witch trials...is there a witch among us now? The Witch finder General will undertake his own witch trial to ascertain for certain if one of you possesses witchly powers.
Please ensure that you wear warm clothing and sensible shoes as there are uneven steps, staircases and very cold underground passages!
