The band exploded onto the scene in 1983 with anthemic songs such as 'Fields of Fire' & 'In A Big Country' which were culled from their classic debut album 'The Crossing', which sold several million worldwide. They followed up with a number one album 'Steeltown'. They released 8 studio albums all of which entered the Top Ten and released 28 singles 5 of which were also Top Ten.

Following the passing of lead vocalist Stuart Adamson in 2001, the three remaining members Mark Brzezicki, Tony Butler and Bruce Watson reunited for a UK tour in 2007 and released the album Twenty Five Live. Mike Peters handled vocal duties for Big Country from 2010, but left the group in 2013. Following Peters' departure, the band announced they would continue as a quartet with original member Bruce Watson on guitar and vocals, Mark Brzezicki, who joined shortly after the band's formation, on drums, Jamie Watson (2010- ) on guitars and Derek Forbes (2012 - ) on bass.
