After three successful years producing ‘a terrific roster of stand up’ (The Independent), this years festival has been  named one of ‘the UK's best comedy festivals’ (The Skinny) and one of the 2016 festival picks this year (City Life), This ‘go-to comedy event’ (The Skinny) is Europe's only Comedy Festival of its kind; confirmed to take place at various venues across Manchester from Thursday 20th until Sunday 30th October.

The Launch Night of the Women in Comedy Festival always starts with a big and bold bang and this year might be the biggest of them all.

Don’t miss out on the opening night of the 2016 women in Comedy festival where you not only get a chance to see some of the best comics in the country including Suzi Ruffell, Angela Barnes, Jen Brister and Kerry Leigh (MC). You also get to meet the festival team and lots of the acts who are performing throughout the 2016 festival.

Described as “brilliantly funny” (Sarah Millican), Angela Barnes, a BBC New Comedy Award winner and the star of Stand Up For The Week, Mock The Week and Radio 4’s News Quiz, Angela Barnes brings her solo show to the 2016 Women in Comedy Festival  ‘A gloriously down-to-earth, straight talking and extremely funny comic.’ Guardian

The “Gorgeously talented”, (Tim Arthur, Time Out) Jen Brister began working at BBC 6 Music in 2007, where she presented a number of different shows and starred in Russell Brand & Trevor Lock’s ‘Cloud Cuckoo Land’ for BBC Radio 2. Jen firmly established herself as one of the best stand up comics on the UK circuit and her solo shows soon received rave reviews at the Adelaide Fringe, Melbourne Comedy Festival and Edinburgh Fringe. Since then, she’s performed 2 more shows; ‘Now & Then’ and ‘Wishful Thinking’ to critical acclaim in Australia, Asia, Edinburgh and enjoying sell-out runs at London’s Soho Theatre.

Described by Time Out as 'Always Funny', Suzi Ruffell has quickly established herself supporting Alan Carr, Josh Widdicombe and Kevin Bridges on tour. 'This is what talent looks like before its huge' (London is Funny.) Ruffell’s has appeared on BBC3’s Ed Comedy Fest Live, Comedy Centrals 'Live From The Comedy Store and will soon be seen on  E4's 'Virtually Famous'.  Away from stand up Suzi is also a talented writer with her latest script a collaboration with award winning writer Jon Brittain being nominated for a BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Award which is now in development with BigTalk Productions. She has written for Mock the Week, 8 out 10 Cats, The Last leg, Twit of the Year and Stand Up For The Week.

Kerry Leigh is FUNNY. She writes all her own comedy material and does all her own washing. She has hosted Laughing Cows Comedy for ages (since 2004) through several pregnancies, one marriage, and two anaphylactic shocks. “Kerry Leigh is a wonderful host and comic, sharp and very watchable”  (Janey Godley)
