Hailed as “Overwhelming, Immersive, Bold, Beautiful” (Time Out) and “Enthralling and Amazing”, (The Observer) director Christopher Nolan’s INTERSTELLAR has been named one of the Top Ten movies of the year by Rolling Stone, Esquire, Kermode and Mayo and more, and has received five Academy Award® nominations including Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing and Best Original Score.
Academy Award-winner Matthew McConaughey stars as ex-pilot-turned-farmer Cooper, who must leave his family and a foundering Earth behind to lead an expedition traveling beyond this galaxy to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars. The film also stars Academy Award-winners Anne Hathaway and Michael Caine and Academy Award-nominees Jessica Chastain and John Lithgow.
Hans Zimmer will present his epic score played live throughout the film by a 60-piece orchestra and featuring the full might of the Royal Albert Hall organ, which features prominently in his music. Zimmer’s score is his 5th collaboration with director Christopher Nolan, following Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception and The Dark Knight Rises. The multi-layered sound-world created by Zimmer for INTERSTELLAR is powerful, exciting, beautiful and moving. Hearing it performed live, in one of the world’s most iconic venues, promises to be an unforgettable experience. Hans Zim-mer will be introduced onstage by movie icon and Nolan regular, Sir Michael Caine.
Prior to the screening, Interstellar executive producer and one of the world’s leading theoretical physicists, Kip Thorne, will make a rare appearance in the UK to talk about the science behind INTERSTELLAR, in conversation with director Christopher Nolan and composer Hans Zimmer, who will also give insights into the creation of the film. This is a unique opportunity to hear from a true science legend (who is also featured in the current box-office hit, The Theory of Everything) about bringing black holes, wormholes and time warps to the big screen.
INTERSTELLAR LIVE promises to be one of the movie music events of the year.
