Human Trouble - No Laughing Matter?

As part of the ‘Humanities in Public’ Festival from Manchester Metropolitan University, join us for a night of thought-provoking stand-up, all about what it means to be a [troubled, different, outraged and perfectly hilarious] human being these days…

Laurence Clark is an internationally-acclaimed comedian, presenter, writer and actor who has cerebral palsy.  His observational, political stand-up and hidden camera footage demonstrate the endearing naivety and ridiculousness of human behaviour by seeing the world through his eyes with humour and warmth

Once described as “unremarkable” by a clueless imbecile, Bethany Black has gone on to astound and amuse audiences throughout the UK. Telling the excruciatingly embarrassing true stories from her daily life, she has started to build herself a cult following through her honesty and confessional style. This goth, lesbian stand-up comic is certainly nothing short of utterly unique.

Jackie Hagan had her leg off in 2013. When she left hospital they gave her a list of things to avoid – one of them was falling over.

Lizzie Allan is a mental patient turned comedian. Her unique brand of comedy takes us on a journey through the mental health system as she gives us her version of what really happened during the dark night of her soul.
