SUNDAY 20TH JULY 2025

One of the most iconic bands in music history, The Beach Boys, have announced their only UK show for 2025 as part of their ‘The Sounds of the Summer’ tour, which will be a huge outdoor concert at Englefield, in Pangbourne, near Reading in Berkshire.
The summer show, which will also feature special guests David Essex and Lulu, will take place as part of Heritage Live Festivals weekend of shows at the venue, and is the first event announced for 2025, set against one of the country’s most stunning backdrops.

For more than six decades, The Beach Boys’ music has been an indelible part of American history. Their brilliant harmonies conveyed simple truths through sophisticated, pioneering musical arrangements. The Beach Boys transcended their music and have come to represent Californian culture. They provided fans around the world with a passport to experience love, youthful exuberance, and surf culture.

Since the band’s co-founder, lead-singer and chief lyricist Mike Love penned the lyrics to The Beach Boys’ first hit, “Surfin’” (1961), dozens of the bands chart toppers have become eternal anthems of American youth: “Surfin’ USA,” “Surfer Girl,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “I Get Around,” “California Girls,” “Help Me Rhonda,” “Barbara Ann,” “Good Vibrations,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “Rock and Roll Music” and “Kokomo.”

The Beach Boys have sold over 100 million records worldwide and have received more than 33 RIAA Platinum and Gold record awards. The Rock n Roll Hall of Famers were also honoured at the 2001 Grammy Awards with the

Lifetime Achievement Award.
Sounds Of Summer: The Very Best Of The Beach Boys, Capitol/EMI's 30-track collection of the band's biggest hits, has achieved triple-platinum success with sales of more than three million copies in the U.S. since its release.

The Beach Boys are led by lead singer and critically acclaimed chief lyricist Mike Love, who, along with longtime member Bruce Johnston, musical director Brian Eichenberger, Christian Love, Tim Bonhomme, Jon Bolton, Keith Hubacher, Randy Leago and John Wedemeyer continue the legacy of the iconic band. This concert will not feature Brian Wilson, Al Jardine or David Marks.

Internationally renowned singer, composer and actor David Essex first shot to fame as a musical theatre actor before going on to enjoy a remarkable career that has combined concerts, records, composing, films and television with striking success.

He has written, recorded and produced albums that have sold millions of copies worldwide. He’s also had twenty-three Top 30 singles in Britain alone. These include the Grammy© nominated “Rock On” which not only topped the charts in Britain and the USA but sold over one million copies. Subsequent singles followed such as “Lamplight”, “Hold Me Close” and “Gonna Make You A Star” which made David a household name.

Still the name on everybody’s lips, Lulu is celebrating 60 years in the business starting at age 15 with her monster of a hit ‘Shout’, alongside some unparalleled milestones throughout her career.
Lulu made her film debut opposite Sidney Poitier in ‘To Sir, with Love’, and al

THE JACKSONS plus special guests SISTER SLEDGE and MISS DISCO @ AUDLEY END

The Jacksons have been announced to headline a huge summer triple-header of disco favourites as part of Heritage Live Festival’s 2025 summer outdoor shows, set in the stunning grounds of English Heritage’s Audley End House & Gardens.

Taking place on Thursday 31st July, the show will see the legendary hitmakers joined by special guests Sister Sledge, featuring founding member Debbie Sledge, and Miss Disco, the UK’s premier live disco revue band.

Following on from Tito Jackson’s sad passing, his son Taryll will poignantly join founding members Jackie Jackson and Marlon Jackson in The Jacksons, keeping his Father and the group’s hugely rich legacy alive.

As The Jackson 5, the group found international success in 1969, with their first single  ‘I Want You Back’ reaching No.1 on the US charts. Their next 3 singles ‘ABC’, ‘The Love You Save’, and ‘I'll Be There’ followed suit, as making music history with 4 debut singles all reaching No.1. They ultimately scored 17 Top Forty singles in the US charts.

After changing their name to The Jacksons in 1976, they released five hit albums between 1976 and 1981, including the smash hit disco singles ‘Enjoy Yourself’, ‘Blame It On The Boogie’, ‘Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)’, and ‘Can You Feel It.’

Sister Sledge are known for their massive, ubiquitous hit singles such as ‘We Are Family’, ‘Lost In Music’, and ‘Thinking Of You’. Over the years the Grammy nominated group has amassed a string of Gold and Platinum records, accumulating total sales of over 15,000,000 worldwide. Their albums, several of which were produced by the legendary Nile Rodgers, have received global recognition.

The current lineup of the group features founding member Debbie Sledge, as well as two of her children Camille and David, Thaddeus Sledge (son of late Sister Sledge founding member Joni), and vocalist Tanya Ti-et.

Saffron Walden local favourite Miss Disco are a seven-piece who have forged a reputation as the UK’s very best classic disco revue band. Together, they’ve headlined stages at major festivals and events, including Glastonbury, Standon Calling, Shambala, Silverstone’s F1 and Moto GP weekends and more.

The band’s unrivalled experience, musical élan, dazzling outfits, natural showmanship and slick choreography are what makes every Miss Disco show a life-affirming, feel-good event - as anyone who has seen them perform together over the years will testify.

The Jacksons join previously announced headliner for Heritage Live Festivals at Audley End, Roger Daltrey, who will be joined by special guests Ocean Colour Scene and Cast on Friday 1st August.

ROGER DALTREY + special guests OCEAN COLOUR SCENE and CAST

One of the most iconic voices in music history, Roger Daltrey, is the first act to be announced for Heritage Live Festivals’ 2025 summer outdoor shows taking place in the stunning grounds of English Heritage’s Audley End House & Gardens.

Taking place on Friday 1st August 2025, the show will see The Who frontman perform hits from the legendary band, and delve into a solo catalogue that dates back nearly 50 years.

Giles Cooper from Heritage Live said “Roger Daltrey is a true legend and we are so excited to welcome one of the greatest names in the history of rock to the stunning grounds of Audley End. This will undoubtedly be a gig that is etched in our memories for many years to come!”

Special guests for the event will be Ocean Colour Scene and Cast.

Roger Daltrey will be accompanied by his incredible 9-piece band, the acclaimed group consisting of regular The Who collaborator Simon Townshend (guitar/ vocals) alongside John Hogg (bass), Doug Boyle (guitar), Steve Weston (harmonica), Jody Linscott (percussion), Billy Nicholls (backing vocals), Katie Jacoby (violin), Geraint Watkins (keyboard), Scott Devours (drums).

Daltrey’s solo career began in 1973 with the single ‘Giving It All Away’ which reached number 5 in the UK charts. His most recent album was 2018’s acclaimed top 10 hit As Long As I Have You.

With The Who, he is the voice of timeless classics like ‘Substitute’, ‘Who Are You’, ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’ and ‘Baba O’Riley’, as well as the pioneering rock operas ‘Tommy’ and ‘Quadrophenia’.

Over the years, The Who have earned numerous prestigious awards. These include a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.

In 2024, Daltrey bowed out as figurehead for the Teenage Cancer Trust after 24 years – during which time he raised around £34 million with star-studded concerts at the Royal Albert Hall. He remains Honorary Patron of the charity and an active campaigner on their behalf.

Ocean Colour Scene, consisting of frontman Simon Fowler, guitarist Steve Cradock and drummer Oscar Harrison, have notched up ten albums of influential and commercially successful hits since their formation in 1989. Three of these – 1996’s ‘Moseley Shoals’, 1997’s ‘Marchin’ Already’, and 1999’s ‘One From The Modern’ went Top 5, and included a run of nine successive Top 20 singles commencing with 1996’s The Riverboat Song.

Originally formed in 1992 Cast released four albums, the second of which ‘Mother Nature Calls’ also went platinum (three of them top 10), and had ten top 10 singles, before disbanding in 2001. Since reforming a decade later, they have released three albums including last year’s ‘Love Is The Call’, and they will also support Oasis at their Wembley Stadium shows this summer.

Previous years of Heritage Live Festivals at Audley End have featured Richard Ashcroft, The Jacksons, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Elbow, Soft Cell, Madness, Boy George & Culture Club, Sir Tom Jones, Jess Glynne, Simple Minds and many more.

And what a unique line-up of such hugely talented artists with Blossoms, and Jake Bugg! It’s undoubtedly going to be one of those gigs that we all remember for many, many years to come!”

Blossoms have enjoyed widespread success and acclaim since forming in 2013. Their 2016 debut album ‘Blossoms’ topped the album charts for two consecutive weeks and went on to earn the band BRIT Award and Mercury Prize nominations. ‘Gary’, their recently released sixth studio album, is their 4th UK #1 album.

Jake Bugg found success in 2012 with his Mercury Prize nominated eponymous debut album, which included the hit singles ‘Two Fingers’ and ‘Lightning Bolt’. He continued to develop his sound on subsequent efforts like the Rick Rubin-produced ‘Shangri La’, the Dan Auerbach-produced ‘Hearts That Strain’, and 2021’s ‘Saturday Night, Sunday Morning’. The album cracked the top 10 in the UK, and paved the way for his most recent release, this year’s ‘A Modern Day Distraction’.
