One of Britain’s most loved singers, Russell Watson, will take to the stage for a series of outdoor concerts this summer, set to the backdrop of some of the country’s most stunning and picturesque outdoor venues, as part of the Heritage Live Concert Series.

The Last Night of The Proms with Russell Watson shows will feature the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, as well as composer arranger and producer Mike Moran, coloratura soprano Christina Johnston, and very special guests The NHS Choir (Ardingly and Englefield) and The NHS Chorus-19 (Audley End only).

Watson will perform songs from across his 25 year career, from much loved standards such as Jerusalem, Land of Hope and Glory and Swing Low, through to affirming and uplifting showstoppers including You Raise Me Up and Bring Him Home, alongside a very special Phantom Of The Opera medley.

The shows will take place at the South of England Showground in West Sussex on Sunday 18th July 2021, the Englefield Estate in Berkshire on Sunday 25th July 2021, and Audley End House & Gardens in Essex on Sunday 15th August 2021.

£1 from every ticket sold for the event will be donated towards the NHS Charities Together, the collective representing, supporting and championing the work of the NHS’ official charities.

Russell Watson is one of the world’s most popular classical singers, once described by the New York Times as a performer ‘who sings like Pavarotti and entertains the audience like Frank Sinatra’.

His debut album The Voice saw him hold the top spot in the charts for an unprecedented 52 weeks – whilst at the same time topping the charts in the USA, making him the first British male artiste to attain a simultaneous transatlantic number one. The Voice subsequently became the first and only album by a UK classical artiste to achieve 1,000,000 sales.

Russell’s incredible career has seen him perform for some of the world’s leading figures – from Presidents to Popes, and Emperors to Queens, including HM The Queen, the late Pope John Paul II, former US Presidents Bill Clinton, George W Bush and Barack Obama; and the Emperor of Japan.

With his collaborative albums with Aled Jones, as well as last year’s compilation album ‘20’, Russell continues to achieve remarkable successes in the charts, as well as selling out venues all over the UK and indeed the world.

Very special guests for the summer show will be The NHS Choir at the and The NHS Chorus-19.

The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Voices Choir were first seen on Gareth Malone's BBC2 show, Sing While You Work, where they were narrowly beaten in the final. Since then they have gone from strength-to-strength.

The choir rode an overwhelming wave of support from the public and the media as they landed the much coveted Christmas No.1. spot in the official UK chart in 2015 with their single A Bridge Over You, alongside kind words from Justin Bieber who they beat in the chart race.

Following this success, the choir recorded their debut album Something Inside So Strong, as well as performing at prestigious events and venues including the FA Cup Final, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.

Last year the choir recorded a new version of Justin Bieber’s song Holy with Bieber himself, recorded at Abbey Road Studios, and performed alongside Michael Ball and Captain Sir Tom Moore for a recording of You’ll Never Walk Alone, with profits going towards the NHS Charities Together

The NHS Chorus-19 was set up to bolster morale through song for current and former NHS staff through the Covid-19 crisis. The virtual choir, founded by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, spread positive and informative messages alongside hitting the headlines for their versions of Somewhere Over The Rainbow and Come On Eileen last year.

FRIDAY 13TH AUGUST 2021

After a summer distinctly lacking in live music, Heritage Live has announced the return of concerts next year to the spectacular grounds of the English Heritage site Audley End House & Gardens, the Jacobean mansion in the heart of the Essex countryside.
Announced today, James Blunt will take to the stage on Friday 13th August 2021 as part of his ‘Once Upon A Mind Tour’. Special guests for the evening will be Craig Charles’ Funk & Soul Show and the Hackney Colliery Band.
Since emerging with 2005’s Biggest Selling UK Album ‘Back to Bedlam’, bolstered by the incredible success of the single ‘You’re Beautiful’ which went on to become No.1 in several countries worldwide including the UK and USA, James Blunt has become one of Britain’s most loved solo artists.
With five more albums under his belt including his most recent, last year’s ‘Once Upon A Mind’ - which saw him return to the classic singer-songwriter style of classic songs that touch both the heart and the head - Blunt is as popular as ever.
Having worked with the likes of Ed Sheeran an selling over 20 million albums worldwide, his success has also seen him receive multiple Grammy nominations and two BRIT Awards.
Alongside being one of our most loved actors (Red Dwarf and Coronation Street), Craig Charles has also cemented himself as one of the UK’s most beloved Funk & Soul DJ’s. With his iconic BBC Radio 6 Music primetime Saturday evening show he delivers the classic sounds of the 60’s and 70’s as well as introducing audiences to the freshest artists in the genre.
Craig has captivated crowds throughout the UK, having performed his legendary DJ set at numerous festivals such as Love Box, Park Life, Festival no 6, Wychwood Festival, Common People, Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul festival to name but a few. In 2016 Craig played to over 10,000 people at the world famous Arcadia and Shangri-La stage in Glastonbury.
Hackney Colliery band have been described as ‘one of the greatest live bands that we have in this country’ by BBC Radio 2. With five albums to their name, including 2019’s Collaborations: Volume One which saw them collaborate with jazz and world music stars including Angelique Kidjo and Mulatu Astatke, the band have gone from strength to strength since their creation more than 10 years ago.

Their characteristic sound fuses brass, percussion and electronics to create a genre-defying, highly original mix. It’s this sound that has wowed audiences the world over including sell-out shows at Barbican Hall and Koko, as well as high-profile festival appearances including Field Day, Love Supreme, WOMAD and Glastonbury.
