ACEs & The Impact on Pupil Learning

Event time 9.30am to 3.30pm

The Impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can have a significant and long-term impact on a young person’s development and ability to function alongside their peers. St Margaret’s Education Services have been leading the way in raising awareness of the landmark ACEs’ study and can offer teachers an insight into this ground-breaking work.
This one-day course will allow staff to raise their awareness of how poor early experiences for children has an impact not only on their physical and emotional development but also on their learning. The course will benefit all staff within early years and primary sectors. Particularly: -
• Pastoral Care Staff
• Teachers Responsible for Nurture
• Support for Learning Staff
• Senior Managers
The Course will focus on: -
• What are Adverse Childhood Experiences
• How the brain responds to Adverse Childhood Experiences and trauma
• How ACES and trauma impacts on behaviour and attainment
• The Importance of Resilience
• Advice on Next Steps

Suitable for Primary school and Early Years professionals who care for and work with children and young people who have experienced trauma
