A figurehead within the Japanese scratch artist community is coming to Archspace for a one-off show in an intimate setting.
DJ Kentaro is Japan’s premiere DJ/producer/scratch master-turntablist, he became Asia’s first record-breaking world champion at the DMC World Final in 2002. From then DJ Kentaro went on to play the world-famous Fuji Rock Festival, which paved the way for his global recognition and to grace the stages of some of the biggest international music events. With a peppering of releases both through himself and under Ninja Tune in a relationship that has lasted over a decade he has become established as an artist able to twist the boundaries of hip-hop, jazz sampling and scratch music. DJ Kentaro is expected to release his 3rd fully produced album with Ninja Tune/Brainfeeder in 2017. He comes to Archspace with an illustrious career behind him, in what will sure to be an education in the finest Japanese turntablism.
