Haydn – Piano Trio no. 45 in E flat major (Hob. XV: 29)
Mendelssohn - Piano Trio Number 1in D minor
Dvořák – Trio no. 4 in E minor The Dumky
The fast-rising Busch Trio open with one of Haydn’s most characterful and humorous piano trios, with an exuberant last movement full of the sounds of gypsy violins and even a hurdygurdy! They follow it with the the sparkling virtuosity and graceful lyricism of Mendelssohn, before plunging into Dvořák’s famous Dumky Trio, named after the East European folk songs on which it is based, with their tempestuous swings of mood between sadness and joy. After the concert, Artistic Director Christopher Glynn will announce the programme for Ryedale Festival 2017.
