    Brooke Sharkey

    Brooke Sharkey

London-based singer-songwriter Brooke Sharkey was raised between France and England. Since her return to the UK she has release two EPs and a full-length album (2012’s One Dress), and has just released her second album Wandering Heart independently in the UK.

This album is a selection of songs written about the last three years of her life spent travelling, playing shows, busking and tells stories of people, places and delves into alternative ways of loving and its struggles.

Her tracks Your Tomorrow and Bottletop Blues have been played on BBC Radio 2, 6 Music and BBC Scotland, and have captured the attention of The Guardian, Loud and Quiet magazine, Acoustic Magazine and Maverick Magazine. She has supported artists such as Ben Watt and recently opened for French artist Tété at Cafe de la Dance in Paris.

With a vocal style that switches effortlessly between lithely melodic and fiery, set against a deeply atmospheric musical backdrop, comparisons with the likes of Kate Bush, Ane Brun and Cat Power are inevitable.

Brooke featured in ‘The future 50‘ article in the Guardian in late 2016 as an independent artist to watch. She produces her own music and collaborates with band members based in and around East London.

‘File her under folk if you have to, but her distinctive sound and strong narrative skills bring to mind Regina Spektor, French chanteuses such as Juliette Greco or even Tom Waits. The sparse fragility of Sharkey’s music and her intimate delivery mean that it gives up its charms slowly, but very surely’ – the Guardian
