Blackmore's Night
Blackmore's Night is the unique musical Renaissance/Folk/Rock project of Legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and award winning singer/songwriter Candice Night. Achieving fame as the composer and guitarist for Deep Purple and Rainbow, and writer of rock's national anthem 'Smoke on the Water’ Blackmore always had a private passion for the bombastic regal music of the Renaissance period. When he teamed up with lyricist Candice Night, he was immediately drawn toward her nature driven lyrics and ethereal vocals, and the duo created their own genre of music, encompassing the melodies of Renaissance times, but also capturing the romance, passion and chivalry of the time period.
As Ritchie became a master of the acoustic guitar, mandolin and mandola, Candice Night also began to expand on their unique musical instrumentations and is now not only the lead vocalist, but she performs on 7 medieval wood wind instruments during their recordings and live performances.
Candice Night is also the Princess of the Interactive theme parks Magiquest throughout the USA and Japan and expanding worldwide, and Princess Amora in Great Wolf Lodges where the Blackmore’s Night music is played throughout the amusement centers, as well as the Queen of the Faerie Festivals where the Blackmore’s Night music is spread to more female and family oriented groups.
In 1997 the group debuted with ‘Shadow of the Moon’ and achieved instant gold record status.
The innocence and purity of their music attracted fans worldwide and many gold records and awards later they perform with their 6 piece Minstrel Band to sold out venues in castles, UNESCO sites and historic theaters world wide.
Celebrating their 15th anniversary, Blackmore's Night has become synonymous with ‘fantasy’ music and their unique style and multi-talented musicians-have earned them several ‘Best album of the year’ awards, coveted spots on PBS throughout the USA, music video awards, high chart positions world wide, and many gold albums, and a gold DVD for Germany on Castles and Dreams. Their studio CD ‘Secret Voyage’ rode high in the Billboard New Age Charts (top 10 for 61 weeks). Secret Voyage was voted the Best Celtic Album of the Year by New Age Reporters and NPR stations. Their last studio CD Autumn Sky - named for Ritchie and Candice's baby girl - debuted at number 1 on the Billboard New Age charts and remained in the top 10 for over 40 weeks. They were awarded gold record status for this CD also and it was voted Number 1 Vocal album of the Year.
2009 also saw one of the Blackmore’s Night songs featured in the new Jim Carrey Movie “Yes Man...”
Yet this amazing group still finds time to donate many of their performances to no kill animal shelters, and saving endangered species throughout their tours
