Will Young and Simply Red Head Line-Up For Betley Concerts
Pop Idol Will Young and British soul and pop band Simply Red are to headline at the Cheshire countryside music festival Betley Concerts.
It is announced today that singer-songwriter Will, best known for hits including Love Revolution, Leave Right Now, Jealousy and Light My Fire, will kick off Betley Concerts headlining on the opening night of Friday August 12.
He will be followed on Sunday August 14 by the irresistible voice of Mick Hucknall with Simply Red belting out hits including Money’s Too Tight To Mention, If You Don’t Know Me By Now and Stars.
Saturday August 13 will see a string of current pop acts perform as part of Total Access Live.
2016 marks the fourth year for what is becoming a rapidly successful three-day event at Betley Court Farm in the Cheshire village of Betley and the announcement that Will Young and Simply Red are to play headline gigs is expected to be hugely popular.
Tickets for Will Young and Simply Red at Betley Concerts go on sale at 9am on Friday 18 December.
Owners of Betley Court Farm, Frank and Jayne Speed, say they are thrilled with the line-up for next year.
Frank said: “It’s only December and already Betley Concerts 2016 is looking set to be a fantastic year.
“Both Will Young and Simply Red are hugely respected worldwide so we are thrilled we will be welcoming both to Betley. This is a great announcement and we are confident both acts will be very popular among live music fans.”
Betley Concerts is organised by music promoters Cuffe and Taylor who have worked with the Speed family to promote the event since its inception as Junction 16 in 2013.
Director Peter Taylor added: “Betley Concerts is a wonderful event for Cuffe and Taylor to programme as the setting is absolutely fantastic. For three days we get to promote an array of amazing artistes in such a wonderful location.
“2015 was a great success with Tom Jones headlining on the Friday night and Collabro on the Sunday. We are confident 2016 will be even better with such high calibre stars and we are particularly thrilled to be announcing the weekend headliners so early.”
Tickets to see Will Young on Friday 12 August are priced from £34.50. Tickets to see Simply Red on Sunday 14 August are priced from £37.50. A selection of VIP tickets will also be available.
