Welcoming local conductor Mark Lansom to the podium, Wrexham Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra in Residence at  Glyndŵr University, continue their season with a concert of Music from the North and the South. Featuring music from Edward Elgar, Edvard Grieg and Manuel De Falla before culminating in the Danish composer Carl Nielsen’s wonderful Symphony No.3, known as Symphony Espansiva”.  This is a concert that will guarantee to blow away the winter blues and have us all looking forward to spring!

Young, highly acclaimed pianist William Bracken returns as solost for a performance of Tchaikovsky’s ever popular Piano Concerto no. 1. From it’s dramatic opening, through the romantic slow movement and into the rousing finale, this is one of the most well-known concerto for piano in the repertoire. Wrexham Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra in Residence at  Glyndŵr University, continue the concert season with Rachmaninov ‘s masterful Symphony No.3 – a piece that fuses Rachmaninov’s typical romantic tunes with a more contemporized jazz feel.

Wrexham Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra in Residence at  Glyndŵr University, draw their season to a close by welcoming the ever popular Richard Howarth to the stage. Richard, formerly the leader of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Ulster Orchestra and the Manchester Camerata, will take you through a program featuring Gershwin’s iconic American in Paris, immortalized in the film of the same name starring Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron. The season comes to a fitting conclusion with Finnish composer Jean Sibelius’ powerful Symphony No. 1.
