Maddie Campion and Dannie Grufferty combine stand-up, impro and audience interaction to provide a comedy alternative to women’s magazines.

Dannie Grufferty (Comedy Knights Finalist 2016) and Maddie Campion (“Effortlessly charming” - Comedy Cirque) feel underrepresented in media, and in particular, within women’s magazines.  This is quite a confusing to Dannie and Maddie, as they are women and in theory, the prime target of the publications.   With the culmination of the centrefold, many might find Playboy more appealing than the 186 pages of adverts and 50 word write up on Moccasins offered in Vogue.

Women’s magazines may seem harmless but a light flick through one is enough to make the most secure woman doubt her looks, weight, clothes and whether her last orgasm was as powerful as it could’ve been.  They’ll regularly tell you to be yourself but rather a version of yourself based on Alexa Chung.

Whilst everyone is free to enjoy make-up, fashion, sex and anxiety as much as they like, there is more to the female gender than the publications printed for them make out.  Will the glass ceiling ever truly be broken if an issue of Cosmopolitan struggles to pass the Bechdel Test?

Join Dannie and Maddie as they use stand-up, sketch-improv and interviews to satirise these common tropes and magazine flaws in Coshowpolitan; they’ve already targeted one notorious article in Coshowpolitan’s Edfringe Trailer.
