Comedian, actor, singer/song-writer Penelope Solomon brings her brand new solo show I was a penis at the Royal Festival Hall back home to Manchester.  Born in Salford and raised in Sale, Penelope returns home armed with wigs, jokes, gherkins and ... a penis (sorry Mum). Join her in this autobiographical romp as she blends stand-up, character comedy and a sprinkling of her own songs to explore the highs and lows of a life on stage and screen, her Jewish identity and parenting.

Penelope’s TV credits include: Goodnight Sweetheart (BBC/Alomo); Fist of Fun (BBC); Cuts (YTV) by David Nobbs. On radio she performed in 2 series of Sony nominated King of the Road (BBC Radio 2) and Redeeming Brian by David Nobbs (BBC Radio 2). She has written sketches for Comedy Nation (BBC Two) and The Warehouse (Carlton). She created/co-wrote Tower of Bagel (Soho Theatre/Royal Festival Hall). Penelope is a TV Critic for BBC Radio London and has guested on BBC Radio 4 (Today, World Tonight).
