Liberation Music Orchestra Tickets

The spirit and humanity of the late Charlie Haden is inseparable from the music of the Liberation Music Orchestra.

As apposite in today’s world as it was when Haden and Bley launched the Orchestra in 1969, inspired by life-affirming songs from the Spanish Civil War, and fired in protest against the war in Vietnam, this is music that stirs the soul – a celebration of the human spirit and the dignity of the individual. Crossing the boundaries of jazz into a new world music, a new folk music, Carla Bley’s arrangements are ‘miracles of dynamics, rising and falling in volume and velocity’ (Rolling Stone). A stellar band includes soloists of the calibre of trombonist Curtis Fowlkes, saxophonists Tony Malaby and Chris Cheek, trumpeter Michael Rodriguez.
