Kaluki started as Sankeys’ flagship Saturday night session. With many years of weekly parties under its belt as well as engineering the riotous Jackathon parties too, Kaluki has evolved into one of the UK’s leading house and electronica parties, synonymous with the leading European and global new stars.
When you're into clubbing, you want to see cutting-edge DJ's. The only problem is that you often find cutting-edge DJ's attract a crowd of snotty, boring posers. They don't cheer, they don't have a laugh and they certainly don't dance. They will, however, stand with their arms folded nodding their head. So it's a small miracle that Kaluki manages to get the crowd it does.
They know their music well enough to appreciate the beautiful sound system and the elite DJ's, but instead of standing around 'appreciating' the night, they're right in there getting sweaty. Musically, expect everything from minimal techno to electro-house.
Everyone from underground sensations like Margaret Dygas, Claude von Stroke and Ellen Allien have played, to more accessible heroes like Michael Gray and Chris Lake. With residents OD Muzique and founder and promoter Ellesse among some of the most highly feted and widely respected in the game, Kaluki blends ass-shaking grooves with a fervent following which prizes the party above all else.
