Kal + The Satellite State Disko: A Balkan music extravaganza for Manchester and London
'Rock n Roma' with Kal, back in the UK with their new album 'Romology' and a unique tour highlighting the wonderful music and cultures of Eastern European and migrant Roma-gypsy communities in the UK. If you love Balkan music and you love Roma Gypsy music, then this is the place to be!
Blending traditional Balkan Roma music with influences of Tango, Middle Eastern grooves, and rock – Kal are one of the most famous Roma Gypsy bands from Serbia. Led by singer Dragan Ristic, the band promote Roma heritage and actively challenge prejudice through their music. A must for Balkan and World music fans in Manchester and London, this is also the first opportunity in the UK to hear Kal’s newest tracks from their upcoming album Romology – due for release on 16 November on ARC.
Both the Manchester and London concerts will continue late into the night with more Balkan beats, Slavic Soul, Nomad ska, and Arab Surf brought to you by The Satellite State Disko DJs. Support band to be announced soon.
The Manchester events are part of the Platforma Festival Fringe (www.platforma.org.uk) plus a special guest performance from Community Arts North West's Roma, Czech & Slovak MCs based in Wigan!
