Holy Holy Tickets

HOLY HOLY is a musical project born of award-winning singer songwriter Timothy Carroll from Brisbane and guitarist/composer Oscar Dawson (Ali Barter, Dukes of Windsor) from Melbourne. Dawson and Carroll met working as English teachers in South-East Asia. Over the intervening years they remained in contact, but it wasn't until they serendipitously met in Europe during 2011 that they started demoing songs. At the time, Carroll was living in Sweden and working on a solo project. Dawson was living in Berlin. When Dawson travelled to Stockholm he tracked down Tim for a spare mattress; the two ended up recording a demo for what, unknown to them, would become one of Holy Holy’s first songs. From here, Carroll started commuting to Germany, and the two began demoing material in the apartments, stairwells and snow-covered studios of those great cities.

Both eventually moved back to Australia and Holy Holy was born. They began working with drummer Ryan Strathie (Hungry Kids Of Hungary) and bass player Graham Ritchie (Emma Louise, Airling). After first emerging from the studio with their stunning debut ‘Impossible Like You’ in late 2013, which earned a 5 star review from globally renowned youth network Triple J’s Music Director Richard Kingsmill, the band followed with “House Of Cards" and “History”. Every single has received high rotation on Triple J (the latter reaching #2 most played song on the station), and significant critical acclaim from press and blogs alike. The year of 2014 was a big one for HOLY HOLY; after completing two sold-out national headline tours and supporting for some of Australia’s most loved acts (including Ball Park Music, Boy and Bear and The Preatures) at venues such as The Sydney Opera House, the band hit the road non-stop for the second half of the year, clocking up over 60 shows in six-months.

The band are set to release their debut “The Pacific EP” in the UK & Europe. The brand new single You Cannot Call For Love Like A Dog unveils the band pushing into a darker sound with atmospheric swells ebbing under sharp glassy guitar breaks, soaring vocal harmonies and driving bass. An extended instrumental outro has given space for guitarist Dawson to play in a way that has only been heard in a live setting, showcasing a developed sound that the band has embraced while on the road. The EP also features huge Australian singles “House Of Cards” and “Impossible Like You”. All tracks were recorded live to tape with Matt Redlich (Emma Louise, The Trouble With Templeton), and present a rich array of sounds. Their songs are lyrical and story-based, but also revel in huge, full band builds and crescendos. Lush production abounds, mixing distorted duelling guitars with warm, close harmonies, reverb-soaked piano lines and wild percussive rhythms.

They hit the road for shows in the UK & EU throughout May, including performances at The Great Escape, London Calling Festival (Amsterdam), Dot To Dot Festival (Bristol, Manchester, Nottingham) and Liverpool Sound City.
