    Euro 2013 Woman's Qualifier - England v Holland

    Euro 2013 Woman's Qualifier - England v Holland

Salford’s new City Stadium, home of Rugby League side Salford City Reds,  has been chosen by The FA to host an England Football Party on Sunday 17 June.

The England Women’s team headline the event with a crucial Euro 2013 qualifier against Holland kicking off at 5.15pm.

Holland currently sit at the top of qualifying Group 6, with England close behind in second and the two sides played out a 0-0 draw in Zwolle in October. Only the top-placed nation will qualify for next year’s Euro Finals, which are being held in Sweden, with the runners-up likely to go into a two-legged play-off.

The FA and Manchester County FA have lined up an afternoon of family-friendly activities outside the stadium to drum up support ahead of the qualifier and to celebrate England’s participation in Euro 2012.

Fans are urged to come along ready for a party with wigs, face paints and fancy dress and be prepared to make some noise.

Entry is free for U12s when accompanied by an adult and, as with every good party, all children in attendance will receive an England party bag.

“This is going to be an amazing summer of football with Euro 2012, Team GB in the Olympics, the second season of The FA Women’s Super League and football festivals running throughout the country,” said FA General Secretary Alex Horne.

“This home international is packed full of women’s football talent and there will be lots of fun for all the fans.”

Hope Powell, England’s National Coach, said: “It’s wonderful to come to Salford because the North West has such a passion for football and we really need some vocal support to help win this game.

“Salford City Stadium is a great new venue and we are delighted to be able make full use of their facilities both in and outside the ground.”

Pam Martin, Salford City’s Stadium manager, said of hosting this qualifier: “In our inaugural year, Salford City Stadium is delighted to welcome The FA to use our facilities.

“We are looking forward to opening the doors to the world of football and being seen as a destination for world class rugby and football.”

Manchester FA Chief Executive Colin Bridgford said: "We are all delighted and proud of The FA's decision to bring such a prestigious international match to our city.

“Not only is it a great reward for thousands of dedicated players and volunteers who have played such a positive role in the growth of the Women's and Girls’ game in our region, it's also a great opportunity for everyone involved in the grassroots game in Greater Manchester and the North West to get behind England.”
