Drowners are an American alternative rock band formed in New York in 2011 by Matthew Hitt (lead vocals, guitar), Jack Ridley III (lead guitar), Erik Lee Snyder (bass) and Lakis Pavlou (drums).
Their first release was the EP Between Us Girls which appeared in early 2013. In January 2014 their eponymous debut album was released worldwide.
Drowners are said by some to be part of the ongoing Britpop renaissance (Blur and Pulp reforming, new bands like Blackeye forming), but really they have more in common with the early-noughties CBGBs revival. Their music has as much in common with the late-70s UK new wave era as it does the US one, and their songs recall punk at its most pop!
