Common People HQ has been feverishly planning the blockbuster second instalment of our two-day metropolitan adventure at Oxford’s South Park, and Southampton Common. Our bank holiday bonanza will feature UK garage pioneers, hip-hop royalty, reggae revelry, pop-rave bangers and much more, all topped off with a lavish helping of the Bestival team’s renowned magic, mayhem and merriment. Reuniting party lovers across Central and Southern England and beyond for the festival season’s stunning opener this 28-29 May 2016.

Common People curator Rob da Bank says: “Common People was one of my funnest weekends festivaling in 2015, and believe me there was some competition! We loved it so much we decided to share the love with Oxford, another beautiful city and site with a fantastic musical heritage and a thriving arts scene and diverse crowd of party people …with some corkers from Primal Scream and Craig David to one of my all-time faves Public Enemy, and up-and-coming acts Jamie Lawson and Kurupt FM. Hope you can come and sing along with the Common People!”
Making Common People’s inaugural appearance at Oxford’s South Park, Saturday 28th May will see a headline set from a Duran Duran, plus sets from Katy B, Soul II Soul, Jamie Lawson, The Cuban Brothers, Chas & Dave, Mr Motivator and the Oxford City Singers, with more acts to be announced very soon.

Our second Southampton Common jamboree will see Common People get underway on the same day with a triumphant homecoming headline set from Craig David with his acclaimed TS5 show, plus we’ll have sets from Primal Scream, Public Enemy, Gaz Coombs, Kurupt FM, Ghostpoet, The Sugarhill Gang, Don Broco and West End Kids.

Ensuring that all the Common People come together on Oxford’s South Park on Sunday 29th May we will have a hit-packed headline set from Primal Scream, plus a series of sublime sets from the likes of Craig David’s TS5, Public Enemy, Gaz Coombs, Ghostpoet, The Sugarhill Gang, Don Broco, and Ran Kan Kan. While Sunday in Southampton Common will see a headline set from Duran Duran, plus Katy B, Jamie Lawson, The Cuban Brothers, Chas & Dave and Mr Motivator.

Hitting the Big Top in Southampton on Saturday and heading on to Oxford on Sunday we have Hospitality Takeover featuring Camo & Krooked, London Elektricity, Fred V & Grafix, Etherwood, Dynamite MC, Wrec, and Amy Becker. Making good in South Park’s Big Top on Saturday and bound for Southampton Common on Sunday is David Rodigan MBE presents Ram Jam with My Nu Leng, DJ Zinc, Prince Fatty and Venum Sound, plus 99 Souls and local boys Housewurk in Oxford.

In Southampton our iconic Bollywood Cocktail Bus will play host to Junk: “Not Your Thing” on Saturday with Denis Sulta, Jordan McKinlay, Luca Pilato, Ronnie Spiteri, Caruana & Daniel O’Rourke, while Sunday’s sounds come courtesy of Deaf By Disco, Pete Callard, Foor and Little Chief.

There will be plenty of beats and bass in Oxford at the kaleidoscopic Sugar Skulls Cocktail Bar with Ben Gomori, Cornerstone Soundsystem, Ghettospheric, Mims & Thirsty, DJ Giles, Joel Kane and DJ Hecktick on Saturday, while on Sunday Simple Presents with Jasper James, Em Williams, James Weston, Xavier, Time Gore, Tom Baker, Stav, Dan Gascoyne and Burt Cope. The exalted Disco Shed will keep you dancing with Count Skylarkin (Trojan Records), Kerry & Casio, DJ FU (Freerange), Harvey K-Tel, Greg's Greats (The Shellac Collective), Alex 19 from Wigan and Jason 'The Cat' King on Saturday and Peepshow Paddy, Del Gazeebo, Em Williams (Simple), Dapper Dan, Trol23, JJMaurage's Reggae Bingo and Miss Splinters on Sunday, plus roaming, brass-driven joy from Horns of Plenty (Oxford Community Street Band).
