BySytske Ltd & Comedy International proudly present the 6th Comedy International Showcase.
A unique bill full of international acts treating us to their English spoken set, an evening showcasing the international future of Comedy.
The evening will be compered by Irish comedian Danny O'Brien and Belgian "Science Stand-up" Lieven Scheire will close the night. Grab this chance to see an exciting mix of experienced comedians and brand new acts, performing in English, for some their second language.
Comedy International Showcase headliner Lieven Scheire is a BIG deal in his native Belgium – some episodes of his TV show Scheire & The Creation on VTR channel reached an absolutely booming 50% market share. Scientifically speaking then, it follows that audiences were going to love his Edinburgh debut, and indeed they did, with his total sell-out show The Wonderful World of Lieven Scheire.
If nerds are the new hunks then the charming Lieven Scheire was set to win heads and hearts at this year’s Fringe, with his unique non-fiction stand-up. Scheire takes little concepts like, oh you know, Einstein’s’ theory of relativity, and explains them in a way that is not only accessible but also hilarious.
If science lessons back at school had been more like this, maybe we would have all paid more attention and be six times smarter now. Lieven is no stranger to the UK, having twice been invited to the No Such Thing As A Fish podcast with the QI-elves, and Museum Of Curiosity with John Lloyd, Sandi Toksvig and Phil Jupitus on BBC Radio 4.
Irish comedian Danny O'Brien will be compering the 6th Comedy International Showcase. Following in the footsteps of Simon Pegg, Dylan Moran and Dara Ó Briain - Danny was hand picked this year to perform as part of the iconic “Best of The Edinburgh Fest” Show (which has run successfully for over 20 years) and has just returned from Australia touring Perth World Fringe, Adelaide Fringe Festival and The Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Danny is currently preparing for his fourth solo show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Danny has been performing stand-up comedy for over seven years, playing regularly at top comedy clubs and festivals to worldwide audiences, as well as being the resident host and owner of The Comedy Crunch in Dublin, Ireland's most successful comedy club. With his friendly, anecdotal style, this Irish charmer draws in an audience and brings on the big laughs with ease.
