Big Country

Big Country was formed when Stuart Adamson left The Skids in 1981. Stuart recruited guitar partner Bruce Watson who also lived in Dunfermline. The band were initially a five piece and featured fellow Scots Pete and Alan Wishart who went on to form Runrig. A line-up reshuffle in 1982 saw Tony Butler and Mark Brzezicki brought in as bass player and drummer respectively.

Their debut album, 1983's "The Crossing", sold over 2 million copies and earned Big Country 3 Grammy nominations. Their next 4 albums all achieved gold sales status and took Big Country's sales to over 5 million. Big Country played at Live Aid and supported The Rolling Stones on their 95 Voodoo Lounge tour. Stuart Adamson died in 2001 and the remaining band members shelved Big Country until 2007 when they performed again to celebrate the band's 25th anniversary.
