Now it’s your turn...so hold on to your elastic and come and see the man himself. Talking about his work and books, David will be opening this year’s festival with a celebration of The World of David Walliams.

Liz Pichon - 1st Oct

Join bestselling author and illustrator, Liz Pichon, for a special event about the world of Tom Gates! Play the caramel wafer trick and even hear music from Tom’s band – DOGZOMBIES! Liz will read, doodle and show how to draw in her Tom Gates style – all in a fun-packed event.

Oli White - 1st Oct

Join YouTube sensation Oli White as he discusses his debut novel Generation Next, a funny coming of age story about friendship, family and first love.

Chris Hadfield - 8th Oct

Astronaut Colonel Chris Hadfield launches his new picture book, The Darkest Dark, at the Bath Children’s Literature Festival. As a child, Chris was keen to become an astronaut, but really wasn’t sure what he felt about night time and being in the dark. In this unique event for families, Chris will talk about how he overcame his fears to eventually become Commander of the International Space Station, from where he entertained and educated us all with his regular news and amazing photographs of Earth – and his spine-tingling zero-gravity rendition of David Bowie’s Space Oddity. With the right start, you really can make your wildest dreams come true.

Chris Riddell - 8th Oct

Come along and meet Children’s Laureate Chris Riddell, ask him a question and he will live illustrate the answer! Find out how much fun you can have with a pencil, as Chris talks about his laureateship so far, and the inspiration behind some of his much loved work like Ottoline and Goth Girl.

STARS COLLIDE! Malorie Blackman and Simon Mayo - 8th Oct

Bestselling author Malorie Blackman returns to Bath for an exclusive in conversation event with radio presenter Simon Mayo. Blackman will introduce her latest book Chasing the Stars (“This spectacular space mission, inspired by Othello and Star Trek, goes boldly where few YA titles have gone before” The Guardian) and Mayo debuts Blame, a dystopian thriller that explores what happens when society puts you in prison for a crime your parents committed. Blackman and Mayo will also discuss their previous books, as well as their favourite books and what they like to write about.
