Band on the Wall presents a double bill of psychedelic modern film classics, plus Manchester Psych Fest DJs keeping the vibes rolling til late.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is the story of Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp) and his attorney Dr. Gonzo (Benicio Del Toro), who drive a red convertible across the Mojave desert to Las Vegas with a suitcase full of drugs to cover a motorcycle race. As their consumption of drugs increases at an alarming rate, the stoned duo trash their hotel room and fear legal repercussions. Duke begins to drive back to L.A., but after an odd run-in with a cop (Gary Busey), he returns to Sin City and continues his wild drug binge.

Dig! is one of the best regarded rock documentaries of modern times. After the alternative music boom of the early 1990s, two bands choose very different paths to fame. Portland, Oregon’s the Dandy Warhols, led by the self-conscious and career-minded Courtney Taylor-Taylor, sign with a major label and score a radio hit. San Francisco’s Brian Jonestown Massacre, fronted by the abrasive and unpredictable Anton Newcombe, seemingly go out of their way to impede their own rise to fame with a series of increasingly bizarre incidents, including onstage fistfights.
